So many times, we have difficulties finding which movie to watch in the evening. In my opinion, the Netflix or other streaming services algorithms aren’t enough precise. The section “Action movie” doesn’t really reflects all the aspects of the motion pictures presented in this category. The same issue appears on the music streaming platforms such as Spotify or Deezer. The albums and singles are generally listed in wide categories.
Maybe this problem applies to all arts. How to find a specific painting by the emotions it provokes, the theme it tackles or the movements in which it fits otherwise by making specific research ? Furthermore, how to find several artworks linked by any criteria ? Isn’t it an easy way to make bridges between all types of arts according to specific criteria ?
The Stendhal syndrome is the name given to a medical condition of vertigo caused by an artwork particularly striking or by the exposition to a large amount of artworks at once. This syndrome could well represent this idea of numerous bridges made between motion pictures, paintings, music albums, books and other artworks.
It would be a solution to many types of users. From the person who casually or often uses streaming platform and who wants to find a movie or a music album linked to a previous artwork he has seen, to the student who wants to have a large panel of references to use for his work about a specific theme. It is a faster way to gather various sources at once and to broaden our knowledge about a specific theme. For example, if you want to know which are the influences of a determined movie, the algorithm would list all the artworks to which the movie could refers to.
It would work as such: an IA would analyse shapes presented in movies, paintings and sculptures and link them together. It would also read books and recognize the style, the description and such and make cultural bridges. To sum up, there would be an IA who would analyze every piece of art a user present to it and gather data such as shapes, music, style and so on. And then, when a user looks for an artwork on the website, the algorithm would group artworks according to its previous analysis.
